Welcome to our 3rd annual JAZ Tank competition! As a way to foster entrepreneurship and innovation at Jefferson, the JAZ Tank was created to help members of the healthcare community develop their business ideas into tangible products that can benefit the medical field. Whether you have an established company or simply a concept in mind, we invite you to enter the competition!
Do you have a health-related business idea with a fully-fledged business plan? If so, you should apply to the JAZ Tank Business Plan Track! We’re looking for bright entrepreneurs ready to introduce the world to the next big thing.
All you need to do is outline what your business is all about. We’re looking for your problem, solution, potential customers, and competition. If you are selected as a finalist, you will be invited to present your business to a panel of judges. The winner will receive $10,000 in financial support, plus business mentorship, legal support(including a free fully-drafted provisional patent filling), and business consultation. As well, the winner will also become eligible for Jefferson to engage in future equity-based investments to be negotiated on par with other investors.
This track is open to all but check the “legal stuff” below to make sure you qualify as a “Small Entity.” Anyone with a business plan is welcome to apply.
Do you have a health-related business idea but don’t know where to start? If so, you should apply to the JAZ Tank Opportunity Track! All ideas are welcome but we are especially looking for good ideas around home healthcare and intelligent disease management.
This track is only open to individuals or teams that have at least one member from Jefferson, Abington - Jefferson Health, Aria - Jefferson Health, Philadelphia University. This includes employees, students, faculty, and alumni.
All you have to do is submit your idea; no formal business plan is needed. If you are selected as a finalist, you will have the opportunity to present your idea to a panel of judges. The winning ideas will be supported by the Jefferson Innovation Pillar with at least $1500 dollars in funding, plus business model exploration, access to entrepreneurial education, team building, and prototype development.
Submissions close on March 24th.
Finalists will be announced on March 30th.
Presentations and judging will be at the JAZ Tank on April 18th!
